Kawaii!..... 30 minutes in and I adore the little character Kiki. This version is subtitled as I much prefer this to dubbed versions, generally because it looses the feel of the story but also the English Kiki is played be Kirsten Dunst who has the most irritating voice, in my opinion. A 13 year old witch who has to live on her own for a year or two until she has gained confidence in her magical powers. She meets various character types on her way and is aided by her trusty black cat Jiji. I was particularly amused when the magpies/crows? attacked Kiki, a slight 'The Birds' moment. The plot is quite sweet and although somewhat incomplete at the end, (as I wanted to know the overall success of her training year) it will entertain you in a simple way.
The most annoying part in the film is the forced cackle that comes out of the pregnant bakers mouth. It's just inappropriate.
Cute for all ages, better for those that can read!
